What does Probability have to do with your fitness?
“Probability is the branch of mathematics concerning numerical descriptions of how likely an event is to occur, or how likely it is that a proposition is true.”
Why does this concern your fitness, your waistline, your percentage fat on your body, the speed in which you run or any other fitness goal you may wish to obtain?
Let us discuss wine/beer/spirits first. If you drink one or two per week or month, the “probability” of you developing a gut is closer to zero. Now to increase the probability of or if you have already developed a gut, more then likely you have increased the frequency of drinking your beer/wine/spirits on a weekly basis for a quarter/year/decade or more. This goes true for pizza, hamburgers, hot Cheetos, ice cream and all the other calorie dense but nutrient deficient foods.
Now let us turn the tables. If you increase your heart rate for four hours every week and you continue the frequency of this for weeks/months/years, the likelihood of you keeping the gut development away becomes more “probable.” When you add another keystone habit such as monitoring your calories and staying within a certain deficit target, the “probability” of you achieving your waistline, weight and definition goals becomes much greater. For my athletes, this can be said for frequency of practicing for speed/agility/power and so much more.
Successful people in any area of their life are just like you and me. They are no different other then they keep trying and trying and trying with higher frequencies and instead of giving up they stick with it and over time they begin to hit the bullseye.
