Grant me the Serenity...
Updated: Jan 13, 2021
“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”
This one statement/prayer has a special place in my life. During some of my darkest times including current times, I go to this statement/prayer to recognize a couple of things.
1. Other than my own actions, nothing else is truly in my control. When you realize this it frees you from a lot of unneeded worry and angst. It also allows you to refocus on that which is important – yourself. It gives you the needed focus to look at that which is in our control – our own decisions and actions.
2. With that established focus, we can then do whatever is necessary to move our lives forward in a hopefully positive manner. This gives us the energy, willpower, and courage to do that which is critical to our well being and future. See when we relinquish the burden of that which we don’t control it frees up so much energy and attention that we waste.
3. By practicing releasing control of that which we cannot change and by focusing on ourselves, each day becomes easier and we become wiser to that which works and that which does not. Life is to be lived and we must respect the downs and we must appreciate the highs – what we strive for is that our actions allow for continued positive progress in this thing called life. This only comes with experience and the willingness to learn and become wiser with mistakes not by hiding or being timid or we will never be who we are meant to be.
I have had so many hard knocks in life, but my personal mission of inspiring people like you to better themselves is my driving force behind my unwillingness to give up. I must stop worrying about what’s going on in Washington, what the naysayers are saying and all the other negative stuff out of my control happening with or without me in the world. I cannot control that/them.
I am hell bound and determined to make sure that eVOLV is here for decades to come as it has become the respite and healing place for many both in person and now virtual. I must take care of my mother as I promised I would since I was young. I also feel that making sure my partner and my friends relations remain strong and that requires action on my end. See these are the important aspects of my life and I understand clearly what they are and nothing and I mean nothing will come in my way of making sure that these top three aspects are cared for on my part. This is the courage and determination needed to succeed.
It has taken me years to understand this concept and it is through those years that I have gained the wisdom I needed to get to this point. I also am wise to know that my health and well-being comes first because if I fall ill (ex. – my recent battle with COVID), become incapacitated health wise or any other issue that I could have prevented by making the right decisions on my health – NONE of the above is doable.
As your trainer I commend you first for reading this and taking it to heart. Secondly, I implore you to take your well-being seriously and to take the necessary actions to improve it TODAY!
My team and I would love the opportunity to speak with you and offer you advice on what is needed to successfully progress health wise. Thirdly – if you are on the fence with Rise of the Phoenix – get off your ass and just join. It is time to make the right decision – if you are disgusted with what you see in the mirror – the decisions so far have not been so good right? Let us help!
I look forward to your call, e-mail, or message. My contact info is below.
