Are you losing your Spark for Fitness? Let’s discuss how to get it back!
I have been in this business for over 15 years, and before that, another 10 in martial arts. I had an eight-year break while running my father's construction company and attending Harvard. As a fitness professional, I am held to a higher standard in walking the talk. I will be the first to let you know that just like you, I suffer from fatigue, burnout, and the “fu** its.” It is more challenging than hell getting up at 4 a.m. daily and working out at 5 a.m. Sometimes all I want to do is hit the snooze button, but I can’t.
The problem is that when we begin hitting the snooze button, the snooze button becomes the standard, and then we don’t even show up. How do we break this cycle of burnout and fatigue?
First off, try like hell not to even start the snooze button. Do the work you do for your desired goal and make it a habit that becomes a non-negotiable to begin. If you find yourself in a rut, you need to reassess your desired outcome and refocus your energies toward it again. You must understand why you wanted it first and then begin again. Don’t be fearful of starting over. This is just life. Don’t beat yourself up. Act, even if it is small.
Here is a word of advice for those struggling with the willpower to continue. Find the fun again. Change your perspective on the grind to being grateful for the opportunity to do it in the first place. Try to think of the day-to-day work as a gift given at the moment. Also, do whatever you’re doing with like-minded people who support you. The beauty of eVOLV is that everyone here is ideally perfect, but we are united in fitness.
